What this is
They wrote it down. We kept a copy.
Television companies describe what their sets watch in careful euphemism on the page you read, and in plain language on the page they show advertisers. This archive holds both, dated and hashed, so that when either quietly changes the sentence it used to say is still on the record.
Why the name
An LG executive, describing the company's advantage to an advertising audience:
"Glass" is the industry's own word for the screen you are sitting in front of. VIZIO uses it too, in its own press material: glass-level frequency control, real-time glass level ACR data. A ledger is a record that does not get to be rewritten quietly. Hence the name. The domain, termsaccepted.org, is the other half of it: the click you made without reading.
What is collected here
Publicly published web pages and documents only. Marketing, ad-sales material, developer documentation, privacy policies, terms of service, and the public regulatory record.
Never: accounts, paywalled material, anything behind a login, personal data about any individual, or any device we do not own. The crawler identifies itself honestly, takes one connection per host at a time with a delay between requests, and authenticates to nothing.
This archive holds no personal data about anybody. That is worth stating plainly on a site about companies that hold a great deal of it.
Fact and opinion, kept apart
The quotations are theirs. Reproduced verbatim, with the source URL and the moment we read it. Nothing is paraphrased.
The severity ratings are ours. They are an editorial judgement about language, clearly labelled as such, and you are free to disagree with every one of them.
A change is a measurement, not an accusation. When this site records that a document lost the phrase "automatic content recognition" on a given date, that is an arithmetic fact you can verify from the two versions we publish. We do not assert why.
